Americas Love Affair with Real Mexican Food

For over a century, Americans have been eating Mexican Food.  What started in the West and Southwest from the kitchens of Mexican immigrants has spread throughout the fifty states with it being a rare occurrence to not find some type of eatery even in small towns that doesn’t offer something on the menu with a Mexican heritage.  This is all thanks to Mexican Food Distribution Connecticut and other food distribution companies that make it so easy to gain access to authentic and \"Americanized\" Mexican dish ingredients.  From the earliest offerings of canned tamales to gourmet frozen margaritas, there is something for every taste on a menu somewhere.  One of the main reasons Americans have such a love affair with Mexican food is that it is always changing and evolving.  We find a dish we like, change up the recipe and think we\'ve improved it.  The thing is, most of the food served in America has come a long way from its original forms first cooked by those immigrants long ago, but we still view it as \"real\" especially when it is served in \"authentic Mexican eateries\".

If you were to ask the average American if they like Mexican food, chances are they will tell you they eat it at least once a month.  With the rise in food services that offer Mexican cuisine, Mexican food has become one of the most popular types of cuisine in the United States.  Mexican Food Distribution Connecticut statistics show that over 85% of the population of the United States has eaten Mexican food at least once.  Mexican cuisine has become such a huge part of our American diet that Mexican inspired dishes are now being served in some of the most traditional restaurants and other eating establishments such as school lunches.

However, we have \"Americanized\" some of the traditional Mexican dishes so much that they are no longer anything that would be found in the average kitchen of a Mexican household.  Most of the dishes that come to mind when the average American diner thinks of Mexican cuisine include nachos, tacos, quesadillas and burritos.  What many don’t realize is that some of their favorite \"authentic\" dishes, such as that ever popular melted cheese drenched tortilla dish known as nachos are generally not eaten as part of everyday Mexican dining.  When one dines on truly authentic Mexican food, the dishes are loaded with colorful fresh produce, beans, tortillas and wonderful spices such as cloves, garlic, cinnamon, cumin and chiles. Not only is true Mexican cuisine colorful and widely varied, but it is also tremendously more healthy than its Americanized version.  The American love affair with super-sized portions and additions of fatty meats and other ingredients have taken away from the wonderfully healthy benefits of true Mexican cooking. To truly benefit from and enjoy authentic Mexican food, one must go back to the basics of how the food is prepared and served in its original settings and with the authentic ingredients that can be found through Mexican Food Distribution Connecticut.
